چکیده

Nitrate-sensing system that consists of a micromachined sensor substrate, nitrate-permeable membrane, integrated microfluidic channels, and standard fluidic connectors has been designed, fabricated, assembled, and tested. Our microsensor was designed for in-situ monitoring of nitrate concentrations in ground water. A silver electrode was patterned for amperometric nitrate detection. An electrochemically oxidized silver electrode was used as a reference electrode. Microfluidic channels were fabricated as flow paths for the eluent and ground-water sample to the microelectrochemical (MEC) cell. The sensor also incorporates a nitrate-permeable membrane that is used for selective measurement of nitrate. The sensor has a linear response over concentration ranging from 1 μM to 1 mM.

Integrated Microfluidic Sensors for Amperometric Detection of Influenza Virus Using an Aptamer-antibody Assay

Influenza H1N1 viruses have caused serious concerns over the past decade. As a result, development of automatic and compact devices is of great needs. Conventional approaches, however, suffer from several critical issues such as time-consuming and low specificity. In this work, we therefore present a new approach for amperometric detection of influenza A virus using a new aptamer-antibody assay...

Fuel cell-powered microfluidic platform for lab-on-a-chip applications: Integration into an autonomous amperometric sensing device.

The present paper reports for the first time the integration of a microfluidic system, electronics modules, amperometric sensor and display, all powered by a single micro direct methanol fuel cell. In addition to activating the electronic circuitry, the integrated power source also acts as a tuneable micropump. The electronics fulfil several functions. First, they regulate the micro fuel cell o...

A micromachined electrochemical sensor for free chlorine monitoring in drinking water.

In this work, we designed, fabricated and tested a disposable, flow-through amperometric sensor for free chlorine determination in water. The sensor is based on the principle of an electrochemical cell. The substrate, as well as the top microfluidic layer, is made up of a polymer material. The advantages include; (a) disposability from low cost; (b) stable operation range from three-electrode d...

Micromachined analyzers on a silicon chip.

For an example of a silicon-based micromachined analyzer, we describe a combined PO2, PCO2, and pH sensor designed for extracorporeal blood gas monitoring. The clinically well-accepted amperometric (PO2) and potentiometric (PCO2, pH) sensing principles are used, realized in a planar and miniaturized form on a single silicon chip (6 x 22 mm). The transducer part of the chip is fabricated by stan...
